Director of IT

Iron Galaxy Studios is a well-established independent game developer who has partnered with the titans of our industry to ship more high-caliber games than any other indie developer. We’re known for our excellent work on Killer Instinct, as well as bringing Skyrim to the Nintendo Switch. We are looking for a knowledgeable, experienced, and future-focused IT leader to join our Iron Galaxy family and embrace the role of Director of IT.

As the Director of IT, you will be responsible for overseeing all of the IT functions within our company. This includes leading and mentoring the IT team, managing the company’s technology operations, and implementing new and innovative IT systems and policies. We will count on you to ensure that our systems, and the department, work effectively while functioning within the limits of budget, time, and any specifications given.

We need a Director who leads by example, fosters teamwork and demonstrates excellent communication skills. You must have a solid technical background and experience managing and motivating a team. You must thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects at a time. A background in, and a passion for, video games is a must.



  • Oversee all technology operations (e.g. network security) and evaluate them according to established goals
  • Direct and manage the relationship with our external IT consulting group
  • Devise, establish, and keep current IT policies and systems to ensure they continue to meet the company’s needs
  • Mitigate and resolve conflict, both from external and internal partners
  • Coordinate, manage, mentor, and be an advocate for the IT team
  • Oversee hiring, training, and development for the IT team
  • Identify security vulnerabilities and eliminate them with strategic solutions that increase data security for the company and our external partners
  • Collaborate with other department leads to analyze the business requirements of all departments and determine their technology needs
  • Identify the need for upgrades, configurations, or new systems and recommend technology solutions to upper management
  • Manage budget and purchase efficient and cost-effective technological equipment and software
  • Foster strong relationships with vendors and create cost-efficient contracts
  • Manage and maintain a complex on-site internal data-center
  • Understand telecommunication systems and suggest ways to improve communication between studio locations and offsite employees
  • Asset management
  • Assist in completion of day-to-day issue resolution when necessary
  • Reports directly to Head of Operations


Skills and Experience

  • 6+ years of professional IT experience
  • 4+ years in a lead or management role
  • Experience in the gaming industry or tech industry highly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and motivational skills
  • Ability to work well and create consensus within a larger team
  • Adapt quickly to change
  • Self-motivated to investigate new technology and processes; use findings to propose best practices
  • Highly organized and detail focused with great time management skills
  • Ability to distill complex concepts into easy-to-understand terms
  • Take joy in equipping others with the tools they need to excel in their role
  • Experience in analysis, implementation, and evaluation of, IT systems and their specifications
  • Sound understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks etc.
  • Experience in controlling budget and reporting on expenditure
  • BSc/BA in computer science, engineering or relevant field; MSc/MA is a plus
